University-wide General Education Committee (UWGEC)

General Education course proposals are reviewed at monthly UWGEC meetings, beginning in September and continuing through May. Any course proposals submitted in June, July or August, will be considered by the UWGEC at the September meeting.

The Faculty Senate established the University-wide General Education Committee in December 1995, with Bylaws adopted in October 2017. The Committee is composed of representatives from:

Agriculture and Life Sciences Engineering Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health
Architecture & Landscape Architecture Fine Arts Science
Education Honors College Social and Behavioral Sciences
Eller College of Management Humanities  


There is also representation from the Foundations programs - English Composition, Mathematics, and Second Language. Each faculty member serves a three-year term.

In addition there is invited representation from areas directly involved in General Education: students, professional academic advisors, university library, transfer curriculum & articulation services, assessment, and enrollment management.
