As the two examples in this section illustrate, rhetorical analysis may be done on a variety of topics. The first essay, titled "Celeron or Pentium II," examines how both of these products are advertised and how these these advertisement attempt to persuade consumers. The second essay deals with a very different topic. "Inside education: Gifts of home schooling" examines how one article attempts to persuade the reader that home schooling is beneficial to both students and parents. This example is particularly interesting as it includes a number of drafts that illustrate the process of essay development. The topics for both of these essays were selected based on the interests of the student involved. This is a crucial part of the essay process. A topic which holds interest for the author will invariably result in both a better paper and a more enjoyable experience for the writer. |
