Medieval Travel Course 2008 Prof. Albrecht Classen May18 - June 9, 2008 (ca. 3 weeks) This is a combined study and travel course, offering hands-on experiences and also a regular class on the Middle Ages in terms of its history, art, architecture, literature, and religion. Countries to be visited: Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, France, Andorra, Spain, Italy, Switzerland "Guaranteed": it will be the time of your life!

Estimated Costs: (incl. air fare, tuition [6 credits], hotels, local transportation, breakfast, and some entrance fees) ca. $5200. Not included: lunches and dinners, and your own spending money To be accepted, you must be a registered student at the UA (pre-summer registration only $50), but anyone from outside can also apply. Required: general interest in the Middle Ages, willingness to accept a rigorous travel experience (hiking to castles and extensive visits of local sites), readiness to be a team player. Expectation: Active participation in class and in the excursions, keeping an thorough journal, reflecting on the readings and the actual visits, writing critically about them. You must come to an interview with Prof. Classen after having filled out an application with Study Abroad (for those from outside a telephone interview will do). There are no age limitations if you meet the requirements.
