This new book series was launched in 2007, with a first volume by Albrecht Classen, The Power of a Woman's Voice in Medieval and Early Modern Literature: New Approaches to German and European Women Writers and to Violence Against Women in Premodern Times. Volume 2 also appeared in 2007: Old Age in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance: Interdisciplinary Approaches to a Neglected Topic,, ed. Albrecht Classen (2007) Projected subsequent volumes: Third volume: Sexuality in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance (2008) -- currently in preparation Fourth volume: Chess in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance (2008 or earlier?), ed. Daniel E. O'Sullivan Fifth volume: Urban Space in the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period (2009) Sixth volume: Birth, Health, and Death in the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period Seventh volume: Mental and Physical Health in the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period Eighth volume: Trade and Money in the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period Ninth volume: Crime, Criminality, and Punishment in the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period
Future editors of individual topics and authors of monographs that would fit in the broad framework are invited to contact the series editors. We are, of course, also interested in submissions to the volume(s) currently in preparation.
